This is the prequel novella to the Ilyon Chronicles. It tells Jace's early story.

Everyone who has read the books knows that Jace's early life was really sad. I went into the book prepared, but not prepared enough.

I can't go into too much information because the book is small and I don't want to give away spoilers.

If I had to summarize...

BABY JACE IS ADORABLE! Someone needed to hug him and protect him from the world.

The bad thing that happened was bad and it still makes me hurt. Just...HOW DARE THEY?!

The fights that Jace was forced to take part in ripped my heart out. 

How hard they tried to break him. Ouch.

The ending. The ending was lovely. Though bittersweet because I knew what awaited him in Resistance. 

Jace needs a happy ending. Jaye needs to make it happen. I need it...JACE NEEDS IT!

Read the book, and the whole series. It's worth the pain.
