“I was not going to stand for being sassed by the undead in my own home.”

For Elise by Hayden Wand

This is a short novella, a "ghost" story. An aspiring Author buys a haunted house as a means of inspiration, only to discover it is actually haunted - by a ghost named Elise who has much to say on his novel. Soon the two are trying to learn how to live together, mostly through arguments.

The characters in this novella were fun. Elise was probably my favorite, a ghost from the 1940's. She is about seventeen in the story, trapped in time, but also sometimes acts like an old lady not afraid to speak her mind. And she does speak her mind.

The Author was fun as well, and I liked to watch him grow throughout the story.

I also loved the flow of the book, but dearly wished it were longer. All through it I didn't want it to end, and then it was over and I wanted more. I'm still sad about that.

The ending I didn't like at first, and then fell in love with. Everything I wanted happened and I was therefore happy.

Even for those who don't like ghost stories this is a must read, it has a surprise twist in it. And for those who do like them, you will enjoy this one.
